On 6th February afternoon, the results for AS/A Level came out. A sea of students was seen waiting anxiously in from of the main notice board for the results to be posted on. Those who could not wait any longer for the results, decided to register through SMS so they received their results earlier than some.
The moment the results were posted on the notice board, students charged to the board anticipating the product of their months of hard work. Some had good news for their parents and immediately called them, others were frowning or broke down in tears and some unsatisfied faces could be seen after finding out their results.
Just remember, failure breeds success if you learn from each failure experienced. Never give up. There’s still a long way to go ahead.
To all students of PTEK who took the November 2009 AS/A Level, please take your result slips at the Exam Section.

During the Q&A session, information founded out were:
KCl solution is used as a catalyst to encapsulate palm-oil based products for bio fuels. (Chem, anyone?)
Also, the recharge for a Hybrid car is 16 kilo C
How long can a hybrid car be used? 40 miles
Is there any energy storage during night time for the hybrid car like a regenerate power pack. – It’s still in the process.

A photo session, which included all the invited guest speakers from different countries and representatives along with supervisors from schools around Brunei, was also held.
Anyone interested in the following topics talked about can ask for the speakers’ emails or websites from the Energy Club’s representatives as it is impossible to elaborate these topics in a single blog post (it will take up a lot of space).

Higher Education Unit At PTEK
On 27th-28th January 2010PTEK had the privilege to host the higher education exhibition with representatives from universities around UK, Australia coming over to hold lectures and give insight to students about university life in different environments, ie. different universities. The exhibition was organized by PTEK’s Career and Further Education Section.
Representatives of universities and other education sections were from:
-The Scholarship Department of the Ministry of Education
- The National Accreditation Council of the Ministry of Education
- Institut Teknology Brunei- Kolej Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan
- Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, MINDEF
- HRD Services Global Education Link
- James Hon Marketing and Management
- IGS College
- Micronet International College
- Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology
- B Lau Education Services
-Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas and Brunei Shell Petroleum.
The exhibition provided much information which students needed for example, they learned about the criteria when entering specific universities & the work load involved. Scholarships were most talked about during the exhibition so the MOE’s Scholarship Department had long queues of students. The HRD Services also provided help about UCAS and student visas, for those students planning to study overseas.
We would like to thank the organizing committee for planning the exhibition which really helped the students with their career paths & to the representatives for their much appreciated guidance!
