Talentine 2009

The event we’ve all been waiting for this year has come; Talentine 2009. This event took place on the 23rd of November of a Monday morning. The event was especially organized by the MPPs lead by the MPP President, Jarrod Sim.

The event began with a welcoming speech by the MPP President. A Talentine Preview Video was also shown to the audience which provided entertainment and was sort of an appetizer for the event. The Preview video revealed the auditions of participants which took place on the 25th of October. Audiences were given a sneak peak on how the auditions went.

Without further ado, the event started with performances by the solo singers in this order;

1. Siti Farahiyah @ Fatin Fatimah Haji Sani (BE 20)

2. Dk. Nur ‘Asiqqin bte Pg. Adnan (BE 3)

3. Neo Hwee Yong (BE 20)

4. Nazatul Normasliyana Nadhirah Haji Saidrani (BE 8)


The duets were then introduced after a rockin’ band performance by the Music Club.

A parody video of the Talentine by the PTEK’s own Drama club was also featured and shown for extra entertainment for the audience. The director of the parody was Siti Najihah E’zatty bte Abd Nasir while editing was done by Md. Nur Wafiuddin.

With the end of the video, the bands were then presented. The order of the bands which performed was;

3. The Last Minute Band

A collaboration of different dances was then performed by PTEK’s contemporary dance club during the break. A variety of contemporary music was showcased with modern dances to compliment them.



To wrap it all up, the most awaited moment of the event was the announcement of the winners for each respective category.

For the Solo Category:

1st place - Neo Hwee Yong (BE 20)
2nd place - Nazatul Normasliyana Nadhirah Haji Saidrani (BE 8)
3rd place - Siti Farahiyah @ Fatin Fatimah Haji Sani (BE 20)


Duet Contestants:

1st place – Neo Hwee Yong (BE 20) & Chua Yee Ling (BE 1)
2nd place – Aaron Lim Dian Kun (BE 1) & Sheila Puspasanan (AE 20)
3rd place - Nur Liyana Amalina (AE 14) & A.M Izuan Syafie bin Suhaili (AE 4)

3rd – The Last Minute Band


To mark the end of the event and as to congratulate the winners, balloons fell from the sky, I mean, from above. (You know what I mean).


The hall was chaotic as students roared for an encore from the winning band, Systematic Chaos. So as to not disappoint anyone, the band played to the students’ hearts’ content.



Congrats to the victors and to the participants who succeeded to the finals today.
Thank you to all MPP, MPI & prefects who were involved with the preparations, decorations & all the fine details of the event. Thank you for all the hard work put into the event.
AND hopefully everyone enjoyed the show!
