Cooking Club Burnt!

*Laughs* I feel like, instead of typing "exposed", I should type "burnt" :) At least it attracted your attention right? ^^ We, blog administrators had managed to do an expose on the cooking club during block 2 and block 1. By referring to its name "cooking club", I bet some of they guys will say "ugh~ That club is for girls!" To tell you the truth, no it is not! ^^ Anyone can join it and while we were there, the cooking club was under Madam Teh and Cikgu Yasmardinah in block 2 and in block 1 by Ms Izan and a teacher whom I forgot to ask her name.. *Sorry teacher~! Really-really sorry...* They were supervising so that the college's kitchen will not actually get burnt! :) *Kidding!*

The purpose of the club is to learn to cook in a fun and creative way and bake practically, minding that they have to keep a good hygiene and taught the correct way to handle cutleries. Also, they were taught tricks in the cooking world such as making a non-stick oven pan by using flour and butter as to make life easier. They do not use boiled water but instead they use mineral water in their cooking.

They have leaned skills of cheese grating, shaping cookies and cutting onions properly. By having a BIG team to work together and so far, the cooking club has to be broken down to 5 groups and held every afternoon according to the students' PS block. Mostly, from the first day it has been Western Cuisine, however this particular day when the expose is being done, they were cooking an Asian Cuisine which is "Nasi Briyani" for block 2 and Lasagna, Peanut Butter cookie and 'Puspa' for block 1. To Indian food lovers out there, the cooking club has managed to make Nasi Briyani~! And also to Italian food lovers, they can also make lasagna! ^^ The special guest to taste the cooking of the day for block 2 was none other than PTE Katok's very own History teacher, Ms Izan, where she came late to the club due to the fact that she had a class during block 2. The students were all very satisfied with their success in their cooking and they even bring their food home.

Here's a bit of our dialogue with the teachers in charge:

Administrators: So, teacher, what have you guys been doing ever since the first meeting?
Teachers: At the first meeting, we showed the students how to do everything. Something like a watch and learn session. After a while, when we think that the students are confident to do everything, we ask them to cook and bake by themselves with us guiding them

Asking from block 1's meeting session, so far they have made tiramisu,Lumpia Hong Kong,Agar-agar pandan, bingka kacang hijau, lasagna and peanut butter cookie. The recipe are all personally made by the teachers and even we were tempted to eat as we were captured by the smell. Seriously, we were caputured by the smell as when we do the expose and return to 'neutral air' we smelled like cheese & curry! =D Another advantage of us being there is that we were asked to be the tasters ourselves! To the Cooking Club members, special thanks for having us there and also, good luck on trying every recipe of the world! ^^,
