For over a week, the candidates had done their campaign and today, 30th April 2009, it will all end with the voting ceremony starting at 2:30pm. As the junior students of PTE Katok made their way to the Multi Purpose Hall, I am guessing that their minds are set to vote who will be their leader, representing PTE Katok in all aspects, and for those whose friends are the candidates, they will be there for their friends for support. The ceremony started after everyone had gathered in the Hall with the reciting of Surah Al-Fatihah from Abdul Hakim Hj Roslan and followed with a speech from the First President of the Students Council of PTE Katok, Jason Chin. After that, a speech from PTE Katok's very own Deputy Principal, Mr Lim Chee Kong along with apologies from PTE Katok's own Acting Principal, Cikgu Hjh Rosni, who couldn't make it that day.
The students were heated up as the candidates who were running for President gave their speech which was started by Hjh Hamizah binti DP Hj Md Noor from BE 6, Kong Yuan Xi from BE 8, Sim Xiao Wei from BE 19, Chua Yee Ling from BE 1, Jarrod Sim Cheng Jie from BE 8, Abdul Hakam bin Haji Ibrahim from BE 2 and last but not least, Izzi Chu bin Muhammad Hariz from BE 8. It was never a doubt that Jarrod would be the next president of PTE Katok because of his loyal supporters. Most of the students were chanting his name "Jarrod!" "Jarrod!" "Jarrod!" and also, very close following Jarrod was Hakam. No one knew who would be the second President of PTE Katok until the third voting finished.
The Prefects Committee were busy counting the votes, it was a close call between Jarrod and Hakam. After the votes were counted, Jason Chin announced the next President of the Students Council of PTE Katok. The students roared with the results as Jarrod won the election. It marked a new history of the college. Hakam who got the second most votes were elected as the Deputy President of the Students Council.
After the election of the President post, the ceremony continues with a speech from the Majlis Pelajar Islam from Md Nazirul Rawi bin Awg Zaimin and followed by the speech from Mohd Noryasin bin Abdul Haris from BE 20, Siti Adhwa Azimah binti Abd Hai from BE 19, Norlela binti Md Yasin from BE 9 and Voon Ee May from BE 22 for candidates who were running for the Secretary post. Again the students votes were being taken into account and the posts were filled with the candidates as been stated in the previous post below. Then, the ceremony followed by the speeches from the candidates who were running for the post of Treasurer.
The ceremony ends with a closing speech from Mr Lim Chi Kong and the closing prayer was recited by Abdul Hakim Hj Roslan. After the junior students of PTE Katok had went out of the Multi Purpose Hall, the senior MPs, MPIs and Prefects have a little group talk with the Junior Students Council on what they're going to face in PTE Katok on holding the respective posts.
